Abstract :
To create smart / intelligent environments for libraries with ICTs, we must gather as much information as possible; the conventional approach is to use many dedicated sensors. This will increase the system cost, sensor data traffic loads, and difficulties in installing the equipment. Therefore, finding some redundancy in the captured information or interpreting the semantics captured by non-dedicated sensors could reduce the number of sensors, sensor network traffic loads and system cost. In this paper, two methods are proposed and their ability to discern the presence of humans. The results show the feasibility of the proposals.
