Abstract
The design of industrial 3D product models involves multiple fields, spans numerous disciplines, and needs plenty of designers to participate in. In order to break the limit of designers´ geographical separation and improve the efficiency of 3D design, a Web system aiming at concurrently designing 3D models for distributed designers in different domains was developed. By introducing data replication technology, the system supports real-time collaboration and data consistency of the 3D operational scenes. By adopting the lock method, the system avoids the potential conflicts when distributed designers operate a same component at the same time. Through this system, multidisciplinary designers can contribute their domain knowledge conveniently to designing 3D industrial product models.
