Abstract :
Advocations of monocular people for driving rights have been more and more prominent in recent years. This paper aimed on research findings of monocular vision such as definition, criterion, compensatory mechanism and effect on driving behavior, and compared domestic vision requirements and test procedures of drivers with the counterparts of other countries. Based on analysis of advanced methods including conditional vehicle licensing system which has been applied for years in the U.S. and Australia, some feasibility plans were suggested to support the driving rights of monocular people, such as adjustment of requirement of visual acuity, introduction of requirement of vision field, stimulation and real-vehicle test of driving behavior of monocular drivers, application of conditional vehicle license, etc.
