Abstract
In this paper idea of adaptive channel equalization is discussed to deal with the problem of degrading effects of transmission channel. The use of equalization and adaptive signal processing finds a major role in today´s communication system models. The time varying characteristics of non-linear communication channel causes different problems such as inter-symbol interference and multi-path propagation which restricts higher data rate transmission systems. To overcome the effect of non linear behavior of channel, number of algorithms have been proposed in the last two decade, such as least mean square (LMS), recursive least square (RLS) and normalized least mean square (NLMS). For all of these algorithms a technical review has been done based on mean square error and probability of error. Result shows that the RLS algorithm outperformed LMS and NLMS algorithm for channel equalization problem.
