Abstract
Standing seam metal roof systems are widely used in building envelope systems such as train stations, airport terminals, manufacture factories and so on. But panels can be damaged by strong storm under extreme weather. So the study on deformation characteristics of standing seam metal roof panels affected by negative wind load is very important. A real scale model which precisely described the geometry structure and connections of the roof system was established. Through the static structure finite element simulation, the deflection and stress distribution of metal roof panels under different wind loads were analyzed and then compared with the experimental results. From the data, it can be concluded that the finite element simulations with visual results are closer to the real situation, and also time and cost saving, so it can be used as a complementary and alternative solution of repetitive experiments.
