Abstract
Under the impact of rapid development of modern urbanization, the traditional settlement in ancient Huizhou has encountered serious challenges, and its inherent spatial structure based on geomantic theory and Huizhou merchants thought starts to look less adaptive. With the structuralism as the basic idea, the author treats the development of traditional settlements in ancient Huizhou as an organic process from closed to open, which is an inevitable essential rule. In addition, the author hopes to draw social attention and concern to the development of traditional settlement and the sustainable evolution of its own structure in modern times by virtue of the research on spatial evolution of traditional settlements in ancient Huizhou.
