Abstract :
Analytical models of electric machinery often utilize a two-axis lumped-circuit approach, wherein the inductance parameters are obtained by applications of Ampere´s law in a two-dimensional (2-D) cross section of the machine. A method of incorporating end-effects in the magnetizing inductance calculations of wound rotor synchronous machines is presented, allowing machines with high diameter-to-length ratios to be modeled more accurately. The method is verified using three-dimensional (3-D) finite element analysis.
