Mum and dad come to see me in our new flat (the student accommodation got condemned so we were rehoused before the legal students could sue, which would have made a great final-year project for them). They bring us a new kettle. Eric??s parents have brought 40 cans of baked beans. Ern??s parents, who are cool, have contributed a 1950s coffee table shaped like a space ship, as he is obsessed with Marvel superheroes at the moment. He likes the obscure ones, such as Saturn Girl (mute telepath) and Adam Strange (superhero and family man) because he feels they never made it successfully into the modern age. What flat really has the space nowadays for Colossal Boy, who can increase his size to that of a giant? How can Saturn Girl get her first job if she can??t work in a call centre? And how is Adam Strange realistically going to get co-parenting rights when his family is on Rann, 4.3 years away via Zeta beam?
