Abstract
A computer model of the coupling between the toroidal and poloidal field circuits in a reversed field pinch, (RFP), has been developed. It is shown that a helical coil can be used as a simple representation of a plasma in order to describe this coupling. Comparison is made with experiments in the Extrap T1u device, operating in RFP-mode. A mutual inductance can be defined, closely related to the F-θ curve, usually used in the description of a reversed field pinch
