Abstract
In a move to give further strength and viability to the electric power program of education at the California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, California, an Electric Power Institute was formed in 1971. This Institute, funded by a group of utilities, electric equipment manufacturers, and consulting engineering firms, serves to focus electric power activity within the University and strengthen the University´s liaison with utilities and industry. The primary purposes of the Electric Power Institute are to serve as: (1) an interface between the University and the electric power industry, (2) a body to stimulate and develop further interest and activity in the electric power area among students and faculty, (3) a coordinating center for electric power oriented activity within the University.
