Abstract :
A simple and efficient polynomial factoring routine is described that uses axis shifting and Routh-Hurwitz tests in a reliable bisection search pattern. This method is especially attractive for instructional use because it involves straightforward application of stability testing, it is easily adapted for related purposes such as root locus determination, and it is suitable for small computer use.
