Abstract
This paper presents a continuous calibration scheme to improve playback performance of optical media. Conventional methods are unable to follow small changes in the disc structure. The continuous method proposed in this paper overcomes that problem by adapting to the changes in the shape and structure throughout the disc. This method is simple and straightforward to implement on any consumer DVD system. The initial parameters for the continuous calibration are generated by a three-point optimization method to reduce the computational complexity. The method discussed in this paper improves customer satisfaction by enhancing the playback experience
