Abstract
The commenter considers H.F. Harmuth´s proof (ibid., vol. EMC-28, no.4, p.250-258, 1986) that Maxwell´s equations have no solution for a particular class of boundary initial data. He elaborates on his own previous explanation (ibid., vol.33, no.2, p.144, 1991) for the simple case of the one-dimensional wave equation
