Abstract
To study start/stop operations in ion-implanted magnetic bubble propagation tracks, H2 was implanted at 35 keV and 1 Ã 1016/cm2 and at 80 keV and 4.4 Ã 1016/cm2 , and set four stop directions both parallel and normal to the linear propagation track. The characteristics were then measured at 100 kHz. From the DC in-plane magnetic field Hdc dependence of the start/stop operating bias field margin, nonnegative Hdc values resulted in a start/stop bias field margin equal to the continuous operation margin. In most experiments, start/stop bias field margins of 8 percent or more were obtained.
