Numerical Analyses on Laminated MR Heads

Numerical analyses of the reproducing characteristics of laminated MR heads in perpendicular recording were conducted. The laminated head considered, consisting of two magnetoresistive (MR) elements enclosing a nonmagnetic conducting layer, was found to be highly sensitive and capable of reproduction at high recording densities. To obtain symmetrical reproduced waveforms, however, sense currents must be adjusted at optimum bias level (¿R/¿Rmax¿ 0.5).
