Abstract
The relations between the properties of materials used in orthogonal cores and the core performance were studied. The magnetic flux control, ambient temperature, core temperature increase and waveform distortion characteristics are presented for an amorphous orthogonal core (AOC) and an Mn-Zn ferrite orthogonal core (FOC). It is concluaded that the orthogonal magnetic flux in orthogonal cores made of layered amorphous or metal film acts to greatly increase the relucetance, so that the original properties of the material used in the core do not appear, the permeability of the laminated core becomes smaller, and magnetization characteristics are linear.
