  • Abstract
    The performance of a gigahit pulse-code modulation fiber system has been investigated as a function of laser temperature. The bit error rate shows an improvement for temperature in the range of -15\\deg C \\to -35\\deg C. A tradeoff seems possible between relaxation oscillation, rise time, and signal-to-noise ratio.
