Abstract :
Whereas an fcc structure has been reported for vacuum evaporated FeNi thin films, magnetostriction and other effects may result in precipitation of other phases. To study local phase precipitation in such thin films, measurements of the magneto-optical effect, the Hall effect, ferromagnetic resonance absorption spectra, and other magnetic properties were performed. The Kerr rotation angle was found to vary more smoothly with composition than did Ms and Hc. From ferromagnetic resonance absorption results, films under 500 Ã… thick tended to have inhomogeneous structures, with much local phase precipitation.
