Abstract
The effects of LPE growth conditions on Bi substitution and the previously reported large orthorhombic magnetic anisotropy in (EuBi)3 Fe5 O12 films are described. The results, with the anisotropy expressed in terms of Gyorgy´s parameters A and B, indicated that R1 (= Fe2 O3 /Eu2 O3 ) and R3 (= PbO/B2 O3 ) do not have so great an effect on the amount of Bi substitution as was previously believed, nor do they greatly influence the magnetic anisotropy. The growth temperature essentially determines the Bi substitution and resulting lattice mismatch.
