Abstract :
Endocrinologists at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, GA, USA are applying a handheld computerized decision support protocol, the Intelligent Dosing System, to manage and treat diabetes. Approved by the Federal Drug Administration in August 2001, the IDS is a three-part software suite physicians can access using Palm Pilot, Windows, or Windows CE platforms. According to the system??s manufacturer, the RxFiles Corporation, the IDS individualizes patient therapy based on a patient??s previous dosing experience, providing safer, more effective drug treatment for a variety of diseases.
