Abstract
Considers the use of hard decision decoders and hybrid decoders employing both hard and soft decisions in a multilevel coding scheme. The multilevel code is applied to MPSK signaling on the Rayleigh fading channel. Using hard decisions, the authors give the error performance of this approach. Additionally, codes that perform well on both fading and non-fading channels are explored.<>
