Abstract
Three schemes for course acquisition of spread-spectrum signals are compared: stepped serial search, matched filter, and twolevel. Analytical models and formulas are developed which characterize performance in adverse environments. Comparisons are on the basis of miss probability, mean time to search uncertainty region, and relative complexity.
