Abstract :
The statistical distribution of the secondary emission plays a very important part when using the windowless multiplier. We have done a detailed study of the problem, leading to some new results, in particular concerning; -the distribution of secondary electrons from impinging ¿-particles -the detection efficiency of the windowless multiplier -the shape of the single electron spe ctrum. Comparison has been made between experimental results and the predictions of the statistical theory.
