Abstract :
An acoustic analysis of a barrel-stave sonar transducer has been performed using a coupled finite element-boundary element method developed by the author. The dynamics of the piezoelectric flextensional sonar transducer is modeled in three dimensions and is analyzed with external electrical excitation conditions. Different results are available such as steady-state displacement modes, underwater directivity patterns, resonant frequencies, and transmitting voltage responses. The results of this analysis were then compared and found to be in good agreement to the same analysis performed using ATILA.
