Abstract
The acquisition of word synchronisation by sequence identification is examined. A model for the simple correlator is developed which can be used to test candidate sequences when searching for the optimum design; the theoretical performance agrees with results obtained from representative simulation trials. Search techniques have been used to identify selected sequences with good word-synchronisation properties
