Abstract :
An unsaturated image of a TIG arc was acquired using a high-speed charge coupled device (CCD) camera with a narrow-band filter. The spatial distribution of the plasma emission coefficient was reconstructed. The emission coefficient was calculated, allowing distributions of temperature and electron densities to be determined. The results are compared with those obtained from spectroscopic analysis. Good agreement was obtained, except for the shape of outer contours, demonstrating the reliability of the monochromatic image.
