Abstract
This brief proposes a method called cross-term analysis to analyze the structure of the class of LNL models, those which consist of a memoryless nonlinearity sandwiched between two linear systems. By evaluating a family of conditional expectations, cross-term analysis unambiguously determines the cross relations among all delay elements. A byproduct of this methodology is a way to determine the lengths of the two linear subsystems in the LNL model. The method is independent of the degree of nonlinearity of the static subsystem
