Abstract
In order to account for spatial correlation in a multiple input multiple output (MIMO) channel using precoding over space-time block codes (STBC), an approach was proposed for the design of a linear precoder (H. Sampath and A. Paulraj, 2002). This approach works well for orthogonal STBC but fails in the case of non-orthogonal STBC. Based on a min-max problem formulation, a new design of the linear precoder is proposed in this paper. Simulation results in the case of quasi-orthogonal STBC (ABBA) are presented in order to show the gain over the conventional design approach and the non-precoded system
