  • Abstract
An approach is suggested to wideband adaptive beamforming for correlated signal and interference. Unlike other approaches, such as spatial smoothing, the new approach solves the signal cancellation problem by employing the idea of frequency-domain smoothing. Advantages of frequency-domain smoothing over spatial smoothing are identified. Preliminary performance studies of a simple frequency-domain smoothing method show that proper spatial filtering can be achieved by frequency-domain smoothing, whether the desired signal and interference are correlated or not
