Abstract :
The stabilisation of the optical frequency of a modelocked laser diode by employing a Fabry-Perot filter, the free spectral range of which is equal to the repetition frequency of the modelocked laser, is proposed and demonstrated. The measured stability was 5.3 MHz at room temperature. The frequency stabilised modelocked laser diode was employed to generate a 25 GHz spaced optical ITU grid based on supercontinuum lightwave generation.
