Abstract :
General National Vocational Qualifications (GNVQs) were introduced in the UK September 1992. They will offer young people the opportunity to learn to high standards in a practical and vocational context. Here, the authors describe how GNVQs prepare young people for employment in broad occupational areas, whilst also offering a route to higher education
