Abstract
The author discusses the recruitment of young women into engineering courses. Various schemes have been implemented to deal with the problem, and more are needed. Various ways are suggested of encouraging women from the outset to consider work in the engineering industries, against the traditional biases which may be present at home and in schools. The process is one of re-education of employers´ attitudes.
