Abstract
The potential of discrete patterned perpendicular media is investigated by using micromagnetic simulations. Each discrete patterned track is physically separated with grooves. In this paper, modeling area is 1.92 μm × 0.64 μm and 16 transitions with frequency of 100 MHz are recorded on the area with modeled single pole write head. The simulation results show that the elimination of side-write-fringe improves the signal-to-noise ratio and the off-track capabilities.
