  • Abstract
    Models currently used in the interpretation of measured values of saturation magnetostriction constant in multilayers are reviewed. A new expression applicable to magnetic/non-magnetic multilayers is developed with the advantage that no assumptions need be made as to input parameters. Data obtained with the new formalism are consistent with accepted values for polycrystalline materials. The interface effect depends on the material used for this layer
