Abstract
Magnetoacoustic emission (MAE) is suitable technique for studying internal stresses: in engineering components. We have measured MAE in a leaf spring, using a swept magnetizing field with a range of frequencies superimposed, with and without external loads. Unlike homogenous materials, industrial components with complex internal stress patterns have a complicated dependence of MAE on stress. The information provided by MAE could be very useful for studying the distribution of stress in such components
