Abstract
The re-equipping of the Docklands Light Railway with a moving-block automatic train control system is a pioneering project that sets new world standards in automated train control. The author outlines the gains and the problems of applying this new technology to a working safety critical system. The system chosen was Seltrac, a transmission based moving block ATC system. The author covers the onboard control, nonvital supervisory control, and safety assurance aspects of Seltrac
