Abstract
AC-erased and modulation slot noise for several metal evaporated (ME) tapes are reported. The AC-erased noise in the ME tapes is consistent with a strong correlation through the depth of tape. No evidence for zig-zag noise is found in the modulation noise. A large difference in the modulation noise as a function of recording direction has been discovered
