Abstract :
A wideband dual-mode horn has been manufactured from a design using mode matching analysis software embedded within an automatic optimisation loop. The horn consists of a smooth-walled conical horn section with a mode transducer comprising a number of optimised cylindrical waveguide steps. The final breadboard model achieves a peak cross-polarisation level of <-30 dB over a 20% bandwidth
