Abstract
The authors consider the stability of a bus-configured local area network whose nodes are capable of buffering multipacket messages, and the nonslotted nonpersistent CSMA/CD protocol is used for bus access. The numerical results obtained show that when there is a variation in the input traffic, the choice of the retransmission rate has a considerable effect on the system stability.
