Abstract
Ammeters are always connected in series in the branch where a current is measured. Unfortunately, parallel connection can destroy a meter if connected by mistake, as often happens in introductory electric circuits instructional laboratories. To protect an ammeter from excessive currents caused by parallel connection, an op-amp/Zener diode circuit has been designed to effectively operate as a current-limited ammeter
