Abstract
This paper presents an experimental analysis of the previously presented ultrawideband and low-profile hybrid electromagnetic-band-gap (EBG)/ferrite ground plane. The method implemented to fabricate the hybrid ground plane, the experimental measurement procedure, and the experimental results will be described. Measurements were performed in a transverse electromagnetic (TEM) cell that was specifically designed and characterized for these measurements. As will be shown, the experimental results of the reflectivity and phase analyses of the ultrawideband hybrid ground plane show good correlation with the simulated results.
