Abstract
Effective integration of solar photovoltaic systems with the electric power grid will require the design of special inverters and electric energy storage systems. This paper presents the analysis of the power switching section of a series capacitor-commutated (SCC) inverter specifically designed for this type of application. This inverter unit was designed to operate in conjunction with a 1-kW concentrating solar cell array developed by Sandia Laboratories.
