Abstract :
The design and performance of a reliable double-side pumped Ti:sapphire regenerative amplifier operating at 1.053 μm wavelength is presented. The device is used as a pre-amplifier in a terawatt VULCAN laser system based on chirped pulse amplification to amplify stretched femtosecond pulses to millijoule levels at 10 Hz repetition rates with an excellent stability
