Abstract :
In digital cellular technologies, the use of discontinuous transmission (DTX) is a method of achieving greater use of installed capacity and improved quality. The performance improvement that results from implementing DTX in microcellular systems is analysed and quantified. Closed form expressions are derived for outage probabilities for systems using discontinuous transmission in general Rician-Nakagami environments
