Abstract :
MR. F. GRIFFITHS: The time at my disposal can only allow for the sketchiest outline of the subject, my chief difficulty having been to decide what to leave out. I have at the beginning drawn a line at what I term scientific planning on a mass production basis wherein output is specified and plant must be modelled to give it, and confined myself to the aspect of moderate production of varying articles. Details of any particular scheme other than descriptive ones have also been left out because I appreciate that often any particular scheme is inapplicable to other than the conditions under which it is operating. I may have laid myself open to the charge of rambling all over the field, but to take a dogmatic stand upon such a subject would be absurd.
