Abstract
Experimental uncertainties in interferometric measurements of polarization mode dispersion in optical fibers and fiber related components have been analyzed. A polarization-mode transfer function and polarization mode bandwidth, derived from Fourier transforms of interferograms obtained in a complete set of polarization analyzers at the output of a Michelson interferometer, are defined to avoid these uncertainties.<>
