Abstract :
Presents a brief biography of Dr. William New, the founder of the medical device companies Nellcor and Natus Medical Inc. His main achievements here include development of the pulse oximeter, and electronic screening and noninvasive devices for pregnancy and neonatal care. In January 2003, New accepted appointment as associate dean for bioengineering at the Oregon Graduate Institute and Oregon Health and Sciences University. His role is to help identify and grow commercial opportunities throughout Oregon for bioengineering and biotechnology by leveraging the intellectual capital of the university and community.
