Discussion on "The recruitment and training of engineering craftsmen", by C.C. Ferguson, at the Eastern Counties Section of the Institution

MR. M. G. WOODS: I had an opportunity of meeting Mr. Ferguson prior to this lecture, and he mentioned that he did not think he subject was a particularly controversial one, but I think he has given us so much food for thought, and points for controversy that it is difficult to know where to start. In opening his lecture, he dealt with the question of Machines versus Labour. During the past fifteen to twenty years, this country has definitely had to face the fact that many industries have had to specialise.
