Announcing a new technical paper "theme" section for the EMC magazine

I have been appointed Associate Editor for this Magazine to introduce a new series of articles on EMC Themes. I anticipate two to three articles per issue covering a thematic area of EMC. The thrust of the articles will be to present established and emerging areas of EMC to a wider EMC audience and not necessarily to the narrow specialist. As a consequence of this aim the articles will not be shaped as IEEE Transactions on EMC papers. There will be more emphasis on physical understanding rather than mathematical rigor. My aim is to help authors present their work in an accessible way emphasizing physical understanding and using mathematical formalism to support rather than replace physical insight. I anticipate therefore more visual material and simpler demonstration examples to illustrate principles and techniques before they are used, in anger, to address real complex problems. Tutorial material and accessible reviews will be suitable for this series.
