The algorithm currently used by the Defense Meteorological Space Program (DMSP) for estimating ocean surface wind speed from radiometric data collected by Special Sensor Microwave/Imager (SSM/I) Block 5D-2 Spacecraft F8 is modified to give improved performance under adverse weather conditions
